The dragon is a mythical creature typically depicted as a large and powerful serpent or other reptile

Dragons are often held to have major spiritual significance in various religions and cultures around the world. In many Eastern and Native American cultures dragons were, and in some cultures still are, revered as representative of the primal forces of nature and the universe. They are associated with wisdom and often said to be wiser than humans and longevity. They are commonly said to possess some form of magic or other supernormal power, and are often associated with wells, rain, and rivers. In some cultures, they are said to be capable of human speech. The Chinese zodiac purports that people born in the Year of the Dragon are healthy, energetic, excitable, short-tempered, and stubborn. They are also supposedly honest, sensitive, brave, and inspire confidence and trust...

Stories of dragons appear all throughout history...

...and almost every culture has their own idea about dragons. One type of dragon, or sea monster, was feared back in the time of Christopher Columbus. During this time when the world was thought to be flat, these dragons were said to be at the edge of earth, waiting to eat any one who dared to sail that far into the ocean. Dragons appear most in fairy tales and myths. In most cases the dragon is the keeper of some treasure, either gold and precious jewels or a maiden in despair. A knight in these stories must come to rescue the girl, or to retrieve the riches. To do this he must slay the dragon.

The Chinese Dragon, or Lung , symbolizes power and excellence...

...valiancy and boldness, heroism and perseverance, nobility and divinity. A dragon overcomes obstacles until success is his. He is energetic, decisive, optimistic, intelligent and ambitious. Unlike the negative energies associated with Western Dragons, most Eastern Dragons are beautiful, friendly, and wise. They are the angels of the Orient. Instead of being hated, they are loved and worshipped. Temples and shrines have been built to honor them, for they control the rain, rivers, lakes, and seas. Many Chinese cities have pagodas where people used to burn incense and pray to dragons.

Quetzalcoatl came forth from within the serpent just as the Morning Star rose to herald the break of day...

...and, by causing the sun to rise in the morning, he was worshipped by the Toltec Mexicans as the one who brought fertility to the land and light to his people. He taught them the art of agriculture, including the cultivation of the maize plant, how to dig into the earth to mine gold and precious stones, the secrets of the zodiac, and the movements of the planets and the stellar system. He was the inspiration behind poetry, learning and all works of art from the simplest sketch to the most elaborate piece of jewellery. Quetzalcoatl and Tezcatlipoca had originally created the world out of the goddess Tlalteutli by ripping her apart and fashioning the world from her pieces. She had to be appeased by human sacrifice in order to continue giving the corn that sustained life.

Leviathan is a dragon which defies the power and skill of humans, according to the Bible

A good description of him can be found in Job 41. Some of his notable features are his back being made of a row of shields and his eyes glowing like the rays of dawn. He is said to breath fire and has smoke coming from his nostils. Leviathan's nature is a matter of debate. It is known that he is a large sea creature of some sort. A whale is a popular suggestion, as the modern Hebrew word for whale is leviathan. Another popular suggestion is a crocodile, which matches the description of teeth and scales more closely. The fantastical description in Job 41 does not neatly match any real creature. Whether the original writers intended to imply a real animal or not, Leviathan has been interpreted in later times as a dragon-like sea monster.
